Bringing another perspective

Meet the Team

Terri Reid

Ever since I can remember I’ve been able to see the positive in people. And I love helping people see how they can put their talent to good use.

I’m intrigued by what makes people tick, and how things flourish - whether that’s people, business, or my garden! Being hard wired to see things from multiple perspectives and having a positive mindset, people often call on me to support them to find a way through challenging situations.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a financial adviser. I loved having conversations with people about what really matters and helping create plans with them. However, I noticed that the pursuit of financial security and career success was often at the expense of other important thing that people said they wanted - like good health and positive relationships.

Over time, I saw the real value I provide is in offering perspective. I helped people to see the strength they bring, and showed them how they could apply it. I also helped them look at their foundation - to see what’s working well and challenge what’s not. In fact, I had done this my whole life. However, I had done it for everyone else rather than for myself.

Establishing Traxiom in 2014, my focus moved from spending most of my time wielding a calculator and building spreadsheets with the occasional conversation about what really matters, to having moving conversations for the majority of my time. People valued me more. And I flourished.

People say they value my honesty and transparency. They know they can rely on me to tell it like it is - without judgement. I share from my experience which has come from the lessons learned from living and working in Australia, Canada, Dubai, and Vietnam. And of course being a parent of two teenagers!

I also have qualifications ranging from a Bachelor of Business (Accounting), a Diploma of Financial Planning, a Diploma of Superannuation Management, a Certificate of Organisational & Executive Coaching, and a Diploma of Positive Psychology.

Traxiom is a living testament to the fact that we all have something special to contribute and that business growth is not just about the money. Like many ventures, it has taken some twists and turns along the way. Watching the business grow, and our clients and staff flourish, shows us what’s possible and I’m curious to see what’s next.

I have always been intrigued by people’s thinking, feelings, and what drives their behaviours.

I’ve spent decades studying behaviour and coaching to understand my own thinking and to help others understand themselves.

For many of us, our lives and the way we live is a direct reflection on the stories we tell ourselves.  These stories are often a complex mix of our personal values and beliefs, our childhood and life experiences, and how we remember and interpret these experiences.  All these aspects plus more, form our perception of the world.  Our perception of the world creates our ‘reality’ and the quality of our lives.  Sometimes our stories are not true, and are no longer serving us! That’s where coaching can help.

By understanding ourselves and others, I truly believe we can live our best lives.  Let’s get clear on what I mean by ‘best life’. It’s not following what everyone else is doing. It’s about making deliberate choices about what feels right for you. I work closely with my clients to help them define what that means for them and help them work towards a state of flow so they feel like they’re flourishing.

People often say I am easy to talk to, and even people that aren’t talkers open up to me easily.  My coaching approach is relaxed and judgement free, and I aim to bring joy and a breath of fresh air to my coaching sessions.  I have the ability to break down concepts and strategies into simple, easy to understand language, and can quickly build trust and connection.

As well as coaching with the Traxiom team, I run a successful financial planning practice which has been operating since 2008. This helps me stay connected to the every day challenges that our clients face while they are leading teams, running small to medium businesses, and living life.

To support my professional experience, I have qualifications ranging from an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services,  a Masters Degree in Financial Planning, Certificate IV in Personal and Business Coaching, Diploma in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring and am also a Herrmann (HBDI) Certified Practitioner.

When I’m not running my business and coaching with Traxiom, I live in Corowa Victoria with my partner and two teenage children. This definitely helps me stay grounded!

Working with Traxiom gives me an opportunity to bring my coaching and financial advisory background together to support other advisers, leaders, and business owners.

I am fascinated by people and things that grow. I love how art can move us, and help us make sense of things.

I associate making art with connection, exploration, play, learning, and beauty. I love capturing the beauty and the whimsy of real life. As an artist I work mostly in watercolour, acrylics, collage, and digital mediums.

It’s been a winding road back to art. Growing up with parents as artists, I originally pursued finance studies and completed a Bachelor of Commerce. I remember sitting in university lectures recording my notes graphically. As a visual learner, when I brought the material to life in images, it made the information stick. My friends said they appreciated the humour and insight when I shared these notes with them.

After university, I became a Chartered Accountant, and worked as an auditor and a financial analyst. Working in the business world gave me a lot of insight into how business works and helped me develop a lot of practical skills. However, over time I realised I was an artist at heart and I found my way back to art.

I made the leap to studying Visual Arts at university with a focus on ceramics and painting. Moving overseas to live in Indonesia with my growing family interrupted my formal studies; however, it didn’t stop my art practice. Back in 2015 I launched ‘saldaily’ on Instagram, and since then I have completed art works by commission, as well as continuing to make something every day.

Working with the Traxiom team to explore the philosophy and life and work, and then bringing our words to life in a visual way doesn’t feel like work to me. And when we facilitate workshops, my role as the graphic recorder reminds me of those days recording notes at university. I love seeing the light in people’s eyes, and hearing their laughter when we develop our real time presentations. It feels good to use my art skills to help people have their own light bulb moments.

Traxiom gives me an opportunity to bring my art to life in the business world. It helps make sense of the twists and turns and allows me to bring it all together in a way that feels very authentic to me. I have realised my skills in art making, my business background, life experiences in Australia and overseas, and my professional studies in Art and Commerce support the work that I do and the role that I play - both professionally and personally as a wife and mother of 3.

I’m looking forward to continuing to forge new ground with Traxiom as I continue to develop my own art practice.

People tell me I bring absolute focus to what I do. I’m also intensely curious. Apparently I’ve been this way ever since I was born.

I am creative, curious, and love exploring new things. I enjoy making things work well, and using my organisational skills to make more space for lightness and fun.

For the past 4 years I have tutored students based in Australia and overseas in conversational English and other subjects. I started in 2020, while I was still a student at high school. It was the year Covid hit, and parents were struggling to keep their children engaged and support their learning from home while still working. As a self-directed person, I found it easy to make the transition to learning from home. I realised I could use this skill not just to support me, but to help others too.

I believe we learn best when the topics are relevant and fun, so while I was tutoring I developed online lessons and interactive presentations to bring the lessons to life. I now work with the Traxiom team to develop new programs, oversee workshop logistics, and conduct and organise research. More recently I have been coaching people to help them realise their strengths and find some more balance in their lives.

Since finishing high school I have taken some time to explore more of the world before I commence studies in Law in 2025. As well as working with the Traxiom team for the past 2 years, during this time I have been working towards completing my Diploma in Coaching with a specialisation in Health, Wellness and Vitality. I’ve also been backpacking overseas and have worked in Italy to support a family with English. I believe it’s important for all of us to get out from behind our computers and learn about different cultures in real life rather than just focusing on learning more theory!

One of the things I love about Traxiom is investigating how to keep people engaged so they work well. Working remotely, combined with the coaching coursework has allowed me to observe how people work in different circumstances, different cultures and has given me a greater appreciation for the importance of living and communicating well.
